A native Iowan, Sharon studied music education at Drake and vocal performance at the University of Southern California.

 

She has appeared as a soloist with the Los Angeles Opera Guild, Des Moines Symphony, Des Moines Choral Society and Plymouth Fine Arts Series.

 

Sharon previously served as director of adult music at two Des Moines-area churches, as well as youth ministries and choir director at a third local church. She has been a private voice teacher for more than 35 years.

 

Sharon has been an integral part of the Plymouth music program since 1982, serving as a soprano soloist and section leader in the Chancel Choir and as a children’s choir director. She became interim director of adult music two years before being named to her current position in 2004.

 

Sharon lives in West Des Moines with her husband, Tom Lenihan, who is an attorney. She has two stepchildren, Ryan and Katie.
