Valerie Miller-Coleman
Valerie is no stranger to Plymouth Church, as she grew up at Plymouth, was confirmed here and sang in Matins. She joined Plymouth staff in September 2012 as Minister of Community Engagement. She supports the Board of Christian Social Action, Peace Committee, Board of Benevolences, Homeless Assistance Team, Housing Task Force, refugee Assistance Team, AMOS Core Committee, GLBT Advisory Board and Willits Committee.Valerie and her family -- husband Ben and daughter Lucy -- come to Plymouth from Lawrence, Kansas. Valerie most recently was Executive Director of Family Promise in Lawrence. The interfaith hospitality network serves families experiencing homelessness through the combined effort of 34 congregations and campus ministry groups. Prior to that she was Minister of Community Outreach for the Sixty-First Avenue United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. She earned her Master of Divinity degree at Vanderbilt Divinity School, also in Nashville.
