The majority of the works in this show are from what has come to be known as the Garden Series, a series of some 200 paintings and prints done from 1980-2004. The works are the last of this series available for public acquisition and are the first showing of my art in the
Gardens provide a never-ending source of not just subject, but light, value, color and all the other qualities required for challenge and creative inspiration.
As I select a specific scene, composition is always foremost in my mind. Composition is everything. It holds the piece together and invites the viewer to wander through the canvas.
To prepare this exhibit, I selected several prime examples of each phase of the series- early, middle, and late- in order to give the best possible view of the series as a whole. Each piece represents a brief stop along the journey of my career as an artist.
I hope that upon seeing these paintings, the viewer can appreciate the uniqueness of each piece and gain a better understanding of my work as a painter/printmaker.
Thank you to Rick Miller, the Plymouth Gallery Committee, and the good people at
Enjoy the show!
