What is a Just Peace Church?

A Just Peace church works to build a just world for all. Plymouth Church has many groups that work to build a just world in the community, with the earth, in the marketplace and among nations. The Just Peace Steering Committee wants Plymouth to become more intentional about its work by seeking the Just Peace designation.

Resolutions were passed at the UCC General Synod that pertain to the work that Plymouth is doing. Some of the resolutions that passed were to make the UCC an immigrant-welcoming church, end the US Embargo of Cuba, protect God’s creation, economic justice by increasing the minimum wage, legislation to declare gun violence a public health emergency, and support of Palestinian children in military detention.
