Eighty and Energetic started as a Summer Fun group and has become an ongoing small group. See Church Center for details and current membership. We’ve grown from 16 members to 35. We have established a regular meeting schedule: The third Wednesday of the month from 11 a.m. 12:30 p.m. in the Greenwood Room at Plymouth. This month is an exception. Our meeting on December 21 will be in the recreation room at Walnut Ridge, Tom and Julie Preisser’s home. In addition to our monthly gathering, on occasion, as the interest arises we have Interest Group meetings. The interest group gatherings so far have been a tour of the Des Moines Community Playhouse, a 2-session discussion covering China and Russia and how their histories are affecting current events. One planned for early 2023 will be on Aging Well and preparing for the last stage of life.
Leadership rotates quarterly. The leaders for our first quarter have been Julie Preisser, Nancy Strickler, Bev Burns, and Diana Sickles. February through April be led by Nancy, Julie plus new leaders Larry and Patsy Goetz and Mary Oothout. Anyone 80 and over who self-identifies as healthy with a desire to age well is encouraged to join us. December’s Gathering
Home of Tom and Julie Preisser, Walnut Ridge, 1701 Campus Drive, Clive, Walnut Room. We will reminisce about our most memorable Christmases and general allround enjoyment of being together. If you like, you are invited to bring a favorite Christmas snack to share. Time: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
