Please join the Iowa Poor People’s Campaign on Monday, June 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Rep. Axne’s office, 400 East Court Avenue, for a news conference and rally. Iowa joins states across the country to ask their Representatives to support the “Third Reconstruction Resolution: Fully addressing Poverty and Low-Wages in America by Building from the Bottom up” introduced by Representative Lee of California. The Third Reconstruction draws on the transformational history of the First Reconstruction following the Civil War and the Second Reconstruction of the 20th century civil rights struggles. The United Church of Christ is a co-sponsor of the Poor People’s Campaign.
