Every year, Plymouth Church participates in theUnited Church of Christ’s (UCC) One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) Lenten Offering. Plymouth members pride ourselves that Special Offering donations go for good stewardship — where funds provide actual benefits to those in need, rather than administrative funds for organizational overhead. Of every OGHS dollar donated, 95 cents goes directly to program work and five cents toward promotional materials supporting this work.
This year’s UCC Lenten Offering will be designated for disaster relief, refugee support, and developing ministries of the wider UCC. Historically, 55% of this offering supports international development − used toward refugee resettlement; disaster preparedness and response; and to fund relevant volunteer work. In 2019 some of the OGHS funds came to Iowa for flood disaster relief of impacted areas along the Missouri River.
Plymouth’s OGHS collection services will be on March 18th and 19th. Be sure to mark your donation as designated for the OGHS gift. This includes all envelopes, checks and on-line donations. Your gifts online gifts may be made on-line at plymouthchurch.com/give or through Church Center. Checks may be dropped in the collection plates or mailed to:
