“In you, O God, have I taken refuge…”

                                                                        -Psalm 31:1

The psalmist remembers that God is a refuge and help in time of trouble. In this edition of the Plymouth Church Weekly News Digest, I want to remind you of some of the ways that God is our refuge and invite you to remind others of the same thing.

Plymouth Church is here to help in difficult days. BUT WE NEED YOU to get the word out. Tell your friends about worship and other on-line opportunities. “Like” and “share” what you see on social media. You are our best resource to spread the word about what God is doing through Plymouth!

Please remember that we need you to share your pastoral care needs. Without our usual means of learning about what is going on (green half sheets, white prayer request forms) we are relying on you. If you are sick, out of work, grieving or just need of pastoral care, please contact one of Plymouth’s ministers to let us know!

Ordinarily, the Plymouth quilters gather at the church to make beautiful quilts that go to people in need. Right now, working from home, those same quilters are hand sewing masks for healthcare workers at Unity Point/Iowa Methodist Hospital. Here is a sample of their work:

Speaking of helping neighbors in need…be on the lookout for information about Plymouth’s Easter offering. Our Board of Benevolences will be directing 100% of our Easter offering to agencies on the frontlines of coronavirus mitigation and relief. We should soon have more information about that.

Plans for Holy Week are underway –for this weekend’s Palm Saturday/Palm Sunday services, for online offerings on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, for Holy Saturday livestreaming worship and of course for Easter Sunday. We have a lot to look forward to in the days ahead!

Our online worship opportunities are getting better each week!  We continue to livestream Saturday Night Worship at 5:30 and to “premiere” the Sunday service on YouTube at 9 o’clock Sunday morning.

(Check out the Sunday service here.  Check out the Saturday service here).

And we still need you to SHARE! Share these opportunities widely –with people in your networks, with Plymouth people who may not know about them. We need your help to get the word out about worship!

We appreciate your gifts to support the work of Plymouth Church!  Checks can be mailed to us here at the church (4126 Ingersoll Ave Des Moines IA 50312). You might also consider on-line giving (click here to learn more).  Thank you for remembering us!

Remember: EVERY WEEKDAY AT 11:00 a.m. you will continue to find a new offering from one of the Plymouth staff on the church’s Facebook page.

On Monday, Matt Mardis-LeCroy hosts the Monday morning check-in, a time to share news of the church and prayer concerns.

On Tuesday, Karen Jeske will facilitate Center and Connect, an opportunity to center, process feelings, and connect with other Plymouth members about what we are all experiencing related to social distancing.

On Wednesday, Matt Mardis-LeCroy invites you to join him for a Bible study that will dig into the text for the upcoming weekend’s worship.

On Thursday, Mary Kate Buchanan will be exploring the spirituality of being at home and have some tips for you to make the most of this time.

On Fridays, Lindsey Braun will have content specifically geared to families with children.

And don’t forget about Evening Prayer, livestreamed every weekday on our Facebook page at 5:30.

Please remember that the church building is closed. If you need us, call or email!

Thank you so much for your continued prayer and support. God is our remains our refuge -I hope you will continue to seek God with us!

Grace and Peace,

Matt Mardis-LeCroy
