THE LATEST UPDATE ON PLYMOTUH’S RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS

Dear Plymouth Church Family,

Grace to you and peace! This past weekend in worship, I talked to you about the good gift of authentic Christian community, the gift that only God can give.  And I suggested that some of God’s best work is done when we are tired.

I know that many of you today are tired and anxious. I am praying that you will know God’s peace in these difficult days. Here is something I believe in my bones: if we lean into our connections with one another, God will show up and God’s grace will be enough for this moment.

It is in the spirit of leaning into our connections with one another that I want to update you on some news in the life of Plymouth Church. We want to love our neighbors by doing our part to help minimize the spread of COVID-19. And that means the shape of our life together will need to be altered for a season.

Effective immediately and continuing through April 13, our building will be closed to the public. All meetings and programs will be suspended. You can always communicate with church staff by phone, by email and online. But please stay away from the church building to help us keep our community safe.

While the building may be closed, worship, connection, care and outreach will all continue!  We learned a lot from last week’s experiments in worshiping on-line. Our current plan is to livestream the Saturday night service at 5:30 and to provide a high quality YouTube video of worship from the sanctuary for Sunday morning.

We will also be offering opportunities to connect in virtual space. For example, I will be offering my Wednesday morning Bible study as a Facebook livestream. Join us on Plymouth’s Facebook page at 9:30 Wednesday morning!

And Plymouth’s staff will be making plans to provide pastoral care for our community and to reach out to those who are in need. After all, if we only focus on ourselves, we will fall short of what God wants for us in these days.

To keep you informed about all of this, we will be producing a regular news digest. Please watch the news section of our website (plymouthchurch.com) for the latest information about our life together and about new opportunities to connect.

(At the bottom of this letter you will find detailed instructions for connecting to Plymouth’s website, Facebook page and YouTube channel).

This is a challenging time. And it will be difficult to be physically separated from one another. But if we lean into our connections with one another, God will show up and that will be enough.

Grace and Peace,

Matt Mardis-LeCroy
