Plymouth Career Closet for Women

Providing clothing for women in need for their next step in the workforce

Welcome to the Closet

Plymouth Career Closet for Women has served hundreds of women since opening in 2009, providing them with free seasonal and gently used clothing for job interviews and in their workplaces.

Women may shop once a month at the Career Closet boutique located in the downtown Wellmark YMCA. At the shop, they find quality clothing, shoes and accessories.

Customers come from varying situations—women’s shelters, broken marriages, or are refugees from other countries. Many are already employed, perhaps just part time, but cannot afford work-appropriate clothing. Whatever the circumstances, the closet serves them with respect and kindness, giving them the confidence to follow their dreams.

Want to Volunteer? Here’s how you can help:

Staff the shop: Help women select clothing at the shop. It’s open Monday and Thursday afternoons and two Saturday mornings a month. There are always at least two volunteers at the shop. Other shop duties include steaming and hanging clothing and checking out customers.

Sort: Donations are sorted each Wednesday at the Plymouth Church gym at 4:30 p.m.

Deliver: Sorted clothing and accessories are delivered to the YMCA each Thursday.

Donate: Give your gently used casual and professional clothing, jewelry, purses, belts, socks, shoes, etc. Donations may be left inside Plymouth Church on the lower-level parking garage entrance.
