Programming for Children & Youth: 2021-2022

At Plymouth, we joyfully embrace the lifelong journey of growing in love of God and neighbor. We’re excited to launch into a fall season of programming for children and youth of all ages that helps to do just that. COVID-19 has increased the need for patience, flexibility, and grace in our expectations of ourselves and each other. As of the writing of this guide, children under the age of 12 are not eligible to receive vaccine and the Delta variant is on the rise. And, we know that in the midst of this, you all are preparing and making decisions about the start of school. We pray for health and safety for you and for all people.

With that in mind, we are committed to creating flexible programming that meets the needs of children, youth, and families of all ages. Part of what COVID-19 has taught us is that commitment to any program includes commitment to our own health and well-being and that of our fellow humans. This is part of how we grow in love of God and neighbor! When this commitment is honored through regular participation and ongoing communication related to exposure or illness, children, youth, and families reap the benefits of a tightly woven community where they are loved and can grow in the life of the spirit, trusting that their physical safety and well-being is being cared for.

Registration for 2021-2022 Children & Youth Programming is now open. Deadlines vary depending on age and program:

  • Pre-K to 6th Church School: Friday, September 3
  • 7th to 8th Confirmation: Saturday, September 11
  • 9th to 12th HS Youth: Friday, October 1
  • All Choirs: Friday, September 3

Please note, we are working with the Plymouth Committee for Health and Safety and also using documents produced by Des Moines Public Schools and the CDC to create a safe and healthy environment for children, youth, families, staff and volunteers. Some things to expect and ways that we can partner together to show and grow in love:

Plymouth is following Polk County and CDC recommendations related to health and safety. Plymouth will communicate regularly through the Moderator Minute and Plymouth weekly about expectations related to masking. When masks are required, children and youth (age 2 and older) will be required to wear a mask.

CDC recommends schools maintain at least 3 feet of physical distance between students within classrooms to reduce transmission risk. And maintain 6 feet between teachers/adults and students and 6 feet in areas with high transmission rates and when masks cannot be worn (like eating).

An unvaccinated student or staff member who is identified as a close contact to a positive COVID-19 case is recommended to stay home (quarantine), in accordance with public health best practices. Please follow your physician’s orders related to close contact.

If a child/youth exhibits symptoms, we ask families to seek out the assistance their child’s health care provider before planning to attend church activities.

If a child tests positive for COVID-19, we ask families to seek out the assistance their child’s health care provider and follow their recommendations related to returning to Church activities.

Vaccines are an important tool to stop the COVID-19 pandemic. We recommend all who are eligible get vaccinated as soon as vaccines are approved for their age group.

We look forward to our ongoing partnership and your input and ideas as we plan and provide programming for children and youth in the months ahead.

How to Register

The form links below are for all children/youth (age 3 to grade 12) participating in the 2021-2022 program year. We have created two different forms. One form is for non-music programming, and one is for music programming. To help make things easy for you and our staff, please try to make only one submission for your family.
