Lane Hensley

Lane Hensley is a native of Shreveport, La., and a lifelong Episcopalian. A graduate of Duke University and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill., Lane was ordained in Chicago. He served on the clergy team at Christ Church in Winnetka, Ill., and was rector (senior pastor) of the Church of the Transfiguration in Palos Park, Ill. for seven years, and of St. Margaret’s in Palm Desert, Calif. for nine years.

During a 2018 sabbatical, Lane discerned a call to serve the remainder of his active ministry leading congregations through transition as an interim rector. Lane received training from the ecumenical Interim Ministry Network, then served as interim rector at All Saints’ in Austin, Texas, and St. Paul’s, in Milwaukee, and as interim dean at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Minneapolis.

Lane served on the board of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary and as president of the Alumni/ae Association. He was a trustee of the property management corporation for the Diocese of Chicago. He was a mentor to postulants for ordination to the priesthood, chair of the Constitution and Canons Review Committee, chair of communications for the Bishop Search Committee, trustee of Ravenswood Community Services, and chaplain to the Palos Park Police Department.

Before ordination, Lane was a technology manager for TransUnion Corporation and System Software Associates in Chicago and the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. (now Bloomberg Industry Group) in Washington.

Lane and Becky now have settled in Des Moines, and have adult twins, Nell and Robert.
