For nearly 100 years, Plymouth Church has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and radical welcome at the corner of 42nd and Ingersoll in Des Moines. Through times of national depression, world wars, technological and digital revolutions, we’ve been an enduring and inspiring congregation to our community.

Join us at This Moment so we can continue to be a bold, vibrant, and intergenerational community for the next 100 years and beyond.

A Note from Pastor Jared

This Moment defines our past, present, and future. As we live into the next century inspiring ministry at Plymouth’s present location, I’m reminded of the quote from congregational pastor John Robinson: “There is still more light and truth to break forth.” Today, the ministries at Plymouth are alive and thriving, and our legacy is still breaking into the future.

This Moment is a three-year capital campaign to support and advance all the ministries under Plymouth’s roof. When you give to This Moment, you’ll ensure Plymouth will have a roof over our heads, a fully repaired organ, and a functional kitchen that meets the needs of all who call Plymouth home for generations to come.

This campaign is about more than fixing our facilities — it’s about propelling our legacy into the future. We invite you to prayerfully consider a three-year commitment over and beyond your regular giving to Plymouth. Your response and financial commitment play a critical part in advancing our story.

With you in This Moment…

Join This Moment as we…

Repair Our Roof

If we do not act to replace the roofs at Plymouth, we risk irreparable damage to our structure. Our building provides the space for so much ministry we do together. From walking with families during grief and loss to celebrating baptisms and confirmations all who call Plymouth home find life, meaning, and purpose under our roof.

Preserve and Protect Our Organ

Plymouth is proud to have the largest church organ in Iowa! Our organ is overdue for a complete 50-year maintenance cycle. Some pipes have collapsed and been pulled out. The leather pitches, which control every single pipe in the organ, are deteriorating and need to be replaced. Significant work also needs to be done to the organ chambers.

Update Waveland Kitchen

Our kitchen in Waveland Hall doesn’t have stove or dishwasher. It can only be used as a prep-space for catered or outside food. The lack of a fully functional kitchen continues to limit our ability to host church-wide meals and community events for those of all ages.

Generosity Goals for This Moment

Our primary goal is 100% engagement – that we all seek what God calls us to in this next season.
Our secondary goal is an invitation for a generous commitment of $8 million over the next 3-years.

  • Below are the estimated cost breakdowns:

    • Project cost: $10 Million

    • Secured: $2 Million ($1 Million Plymouth Foundation)

    Capital Campaign Goal: $8 million

    • $250,000 for the Waveland kitchen

    • $1 Million for the organ

    • $8.75 Million for the roof and masonry

  • Our building facilities provide the space for so much ministry we do together. From walking with families during grief and loss to celebrating baptisms and confirmation, all who call Plymouth home find life, meaning, and purpose as a part of the ministry that unfolds under our roof.

This campaign is ultimately about ensuring that the life in the building and the action planned for outside the building can occur for the present and next generation. Plymouth’s facilities set the stage for the thousands of people who come through our doors each year to discover and participate in what it means to love God, neighbor, and all creation.

  • To put it simply, we need to. Our original slate sanctuary roof has outlived its expected 100-year lifespan. The roof was further damaged by recent derecho and hail storms, and needs replacing.

Similarly, our organ is overdue for a complete 50-year maintenance cycle, which we are 15 years late in undertaking. Finally, we don’t have a fully functional kitchen at Plymouth to host meals or special events.
