Oct 3: The Living Waters Series
The Living Waters Series will focus on learning to care for the gift that we share. Each year, the World Council of Churches calls Christians worldwide to observe the Season of Creation. In answer to this call, Plymouth will host a year of programming entitled “Living Waters.”
The series begins the weekend of Oct. 3-4 with Pastor John Tyson preaching on the sacredness of water and God’s call for us to be its stewards. From there, the Plymouth Creation Care and Justice Committee will offer monthly presentations on ways to protect, preserve, and celebrate the gift of water, culminating in a paddling adventure in the summer of 2027.
Oct. 4: Water Testing Demonstration
What’s in my water? As part of our Living Waters series, Plymouth members John Harri and Polly Welp will teach members how to test water for harmful chemicals. Join the Creation Care & Justice Committee on Sunday, Oct. 4 in Waveland Hall after both services.
Oct, 11: At-Home Solutions for Safe Drinking Water
Lowering the nitrate levels in your drinking water at home might be easier and cheaper than you think! Join members of Plymouth’s Creation Care & Justice Committee in Waveland Hall after both services on Sunday, Oct. 11 to learn about reverse osmosis and other options for reducing nitrates in your home drinking water.
Nov. 1: Special Forum on protecting Iowa’s land, water, and wildlife
As the Living Waters series continues, Plymouth’s Creation Care & Justice Committee welcomes Joe Jayjack of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, an organization working with public agencies and private landowners to protect land, water, and wildlife for future generations. Join us in the Greenwood Room at 10 am on Sunday, Nov. 1 to learn more and find out how to get involved.
Dec. 13: Iowa Rep. Mary Madison on legislative approaches to clean water and soil
In continuation of the Living Waters series, the Creation Care and Justice Committee welcomes Iowa Rep. Mary Madison to the Fellowship Forum. Rep. Madison will discuss legislative efforts to deal with Iowa’s water quality and rising cancer rates and how people of faith can advocate for clean water and soil. Join us in the Greenwood Room at 10 am on Sunday, Dec. 13.
