Plymouth Gallery Exhibit
Plymouth’s Gallery is currently displaying beautiful photography from Craig Shives and Gary Hammerstrom
About Craig Shives
When I retired, I decided to engage in creative activities.
Photography became one of my interests. This collection includes some of my favorite bird photos, many from Florida where the birds are big and don’t move as fast as local songbirds. There is one photo that is not a bird. It is one of my favorites from the Brenton Arboretum. I included it because it captures a unique pattern of milkweed silks.
About Gary Hammerstrom
Photography, especially landscape photography, has been Gary’s primary hobby for most of his life. After retiring in 2003, he discovered the wonder of digital cameras and computer assisted image processing. Many of the images included in this exhibit make use of a technique called “high dynamic range,” in which a burst of five images, each separated by one f-stop, are combined in a computer program into a single image which draws details out of light and dark areas of the image set to render a more life-like tonal range—something that was never possible with film cameras.
For most of his professional life, Gary was a Professor of Information Systems at San Francisco State University. But in the last decade of his career, he went over to the dark side (what faculty call administration). When he retired, he was Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the California State University System.
This exhibit will be on display through August 1!
