Plymouth Port Pillow Project Expands!

Plymouth’s Port Pillow Project expands! Anyone who may need extra comfort can request a pillow!

For over ten years,  your Plymouth Quilters have been making pillows for those with cancer who are receiving chemotherapy. Many have a port surgically inserted under a clavicle (collarbone) to receive those medications. Often, seat belt harnesses cut across that area. It can be uncomfortable. The pillows are 7 inches x3 inches, about  ¾ inch thick, and attach with Velcro to the harness. The pillows are free through the city’s  cancer centers.

Observant folks have noticed that others could benefit from such a cushion. Those who are vertically challenged and don’t enjoy having the harness saw their necks, children too big for car seats but not yet adult sized, those with cardiac pacemakers—all of those have benefited from the port pillows.

To continue the alliteration of “Plymouth Port Pillows Project”, it will still be called that. But do know that if you have need of, or know someone who has need of, a cushion for the seat belt harness, please contact the volunteer in the church office That person will put you in contact with a friendly quilter, who can help you choose a pattern from the 60+ we have in stock.
