Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity

Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity is excited for a wonderful year ahead, building homes, community, and hope! They are currently looking for a few regular volunteers to support specific needs throughout our programs and organization. These opportunities would be great for college aged students wanting to build on their speaking skills, folks who enjoy utilizing Cricut tools, and doing administrative tasks. Signage & T-Shirt Assistance Volunteer
1-2 hours weekly (High need April-October) (2 volunteers needed)
Do you enjoy organizing, utilizing a Cricut tool and having fun? We would love to have you join us as a volunteer!

• Using Cricut Tools, weed & transfer vinyl for site signs

• Clean site signs

• Organize & refill volunteer T-shirt bins

• Assist with event prep as needed

• Majority of tasks involve sitting, bending and some lifting

Training: 1.5 hour orientation on Habitat and Volunteer Tasks
Location: Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity Offices, 95 University Avenue, Des Moines

Office Admin Volunteer
1-3 hours weekly
Do you enjoy assisting with administrative tasks, data entry and stewardship? We would love to have you join us as a volunteer!

• Send birthday cards to donors and collect appropriate staff signatures.

• Address donor acknowledgment letters.

• Write Cars for Homes thank you postcards.

• Assist with stewardship projects as assigned

• Tagging photos on Flickr

• Support data hygiene.

• Update donor and contact information in Salesforce.

• Scan and upload supporting documents.

• Should have legible handwriting and be comfortable handwriting cards

Training: 1 hour orientation on Habitat, 1-2 training on salesforce database
Location: Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity Offices, 95 University Avenue, Des Moines

Habitat Ambassador Volunteer
1-2 hours, with weekly opportunities available year-around (2-4 volunteers needed)
Have you been hoping to practice your public speaking skills, meet people from all walks of life, and support affordable homeownership? We would love to have you join us as a volunteer!

• Welcome & Check In Volunteers on Site

• Table/Represent Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity at community events

• Share Information on Habitat’s mission and programs

• Volunteer should be comfortable utilizing volunteer registration system on mobile, should be comfortable public speaking, be punctual, and have reliable transportation

• Should be comfortable in different types of weather and uneven ground (construction sites).

Training: 2 hour orientation on Habitat & Volunteer Tasks, 1 hour on site shadowing of check in process & welcome
Location: Various locations within Polk, Dallas & Jasper counties, locations change weekly
