July 26: Margaret Wright

Margaret is a community advocate, and presently she is the President of King Irving Neighborhood Association, on the leadership team of the Near Northside Neighbors. Margaret is working with these two organizations to ensure that city services and budget cuts do not negatively disproportionately impact their community, like closing the Forest Avenue Library, the local public pool, and more. Margaret is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has spent the majority of her adult life in Des Moines, Iowa. She also serves on the Advisory Committee for the Evelyn K Davis Center for Working Families, on the Neighborhood Outreach Advisory Committee for the City of Des Moines, Iowa, and on the Neighborhood Finance Corporation board and serves as Vice President and on various committees, in addition to volunteering in the Des Moines area to improve the lives of children and families.  Most recently served as a Pillars of Promise Board Member – Executive Committee and Community Advisory Committee chair.
