Twenty-five years after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, Plymouth gathers for a Service of Remembrance through music, prayer, reflection, and silence.

The Plymouth’s Chancel Choir and instrumentalists, will present Threnody, a powerful sung lament by Des Moines composer Nancy Hill Cobb, with original texts by Ernestine Hill Clark. A threnody is a musical expression of grief—a way communities have given voice to sorrow when words alone are not enough.

Through readings, prayer, and music, we will remember those who died on September 11 and hold the many griefs we continue to carry as a human family: the lives lost to violence, the communities wounded by hatred and fear, and our enduring hope for a world made whole.

All are welcome as we gather to remember honestly, lament faithfully, and seek peace together.
